Maxine Wastl White of Modoc South Carolina passed away March 25, 2018 at her home after a hard fought battle with cancer. Maxine was born March 24, 1950 in Lafayette, Indiana to Mary and Max E Wastl Sr.
Maxine was living in Modoc, SC on beautiful Clarks Hill Lake with her husband Dr. William O. White. The lake is where she called home and she couldn’t stay away long because of her love for the water. She spent her summers with her children and grandchildren out on the lake and living life to the fullest.
Maxine dedicated a large portion of her career to kidney dialysis patients in Georgia and Tennessee. She was instrumental in obtaining certificates of need to establish dialysis facilities in under-served areas to improve the lives of patients.
Her love of cooking, gardening and her grandchildren consumed most of her time. She also loved to travel and often took trips to places such as Fripp Island, SC and to her family’s former lake house on Lake Freeman in Monticello, IN.
She is preceded in death by her father Max Wastl Sr. and her brother Max Wastl Jr. She is survived by her husband Dr. William O. White of Modoc SC, mother Mary Wastl of Lafayette, IN, sisters Sharon Pritchard of Salisbury, NC, and Shirley Riggs of Lafayette, IN, brother Mark Wastl of Carmel IN,. Her sons and their wives Todd and Tracey Sparger and Matt and Helena Sparger of Marietta, Georgia and five grandchildren Lucas, Linnea, Sammy, Sydney and Addison.
The family will have a small memorial service in her name at her lake home on April 14th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
