Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Ucman
May 9, 1941 - July 2, 2019
Lawrence (Larry) Joseph Ucman, 78, passed away peacefully July 2, 2019 in Martinez, Georgia. He was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania May 9, 1941 to Joseph Ucman and Helen Shott. Raised in Pittsburg Pennsylvania, he worked for the Express Railroad and Frito Lay until a visit to the state of Georgia convinced him this was the place he wanted to move. In his youth, he was a James Dean, leather jacket wearing, motorcycle riding rebel of the 60’s. He then married and became a respected retail salesman for Frito Lay and AB Beverage. No matter where he went, he was always recognized by someone, as he was well-known.
Although adulthood suited him well, he often spoke of his motorcycle and favorite bike shops. His favorite past time was to jokingly tease and aggravate whomever was in the room. His smile was big and appeared when he was ready to let you in on the joke. He loved his birds and had a soft spot for his dachshund, Ginger, his honeybun-eating partner. He will be missed, and especially his stories about his buddies. I have a buddy…..
Survivors include wife Carol, sons Ralph Pettigrew, Dewayne Brock, Steven Carlson, daughter Theresa Bernhard (Patrick Bernhard), grandchildren Christina Bernhard, Justine Thompson (Brad Thompson), Tabitha Pettigrew, Nelson Pettigrew and fur baby Ginger.
Family will receive visitors at Arlington Burial and Cremation in Augusta at 10:00 a.m., Friday July 5, 2019 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
