April 15, 1944 - July 31, 2019

Robert Curtis “Curt” Arant, age 75 of North Augusta, went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2019 at his home.  Born April 15, 1944, in Orangeburg, SC, he was the son of Mike and Lois Arant.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Nunamaker.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Nicki M. Arant, N. Augusta, SC; two daughters, Rhonda (Brian) Clark, Hilton Head SC and Denise (Mark) Hamrick, N. Augusta, SC; sisters, Deborah (Sandy) Franklin and Diane Ferst; brother, Mike Arant, Jr., all of N. Augusta, SC; grandchildren, Sydney (Eric) Fulwider and Chapman Hamrick, both of N. Augusta, SC.

He was a graduate of North Augusta High School and the University of South Carolina.  He retired from University Hospital as a pharmacist in 2007 and went on to enjoy 12 years of retirement traveling, fishing, spending time at Hilton Head, and working in his yard.

He was an active member of Curtis Baptist Church where he served in numerous ministries. He was well known for his servant’s heart.  He was admired by many and thought of as the happiest man they knew.

He will be remembered most by his family for his endearing love for them and for his gratefulness to God for his long and blessed life that he most often expressed in his prayer before a meal.

The celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, August 4 at 2:30 pm at Curtis Baptist Church, 1348 Broad Street Augusta, GA, officiated by his pastor and friend, Reverend Mark Sterling.  The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, it was his request that memorial donations be made to Gideons International, 410 Carolina Springs Road, North Augusta, SC 29841.

Nicki, Rhonda, Denise, I am so sorry to hear about Curt. Nicki, from our meeting for the first time at work, friendship in Columbia then Spartanburg. You guys moving to N. Augusta. Seems we could always pick up the phone and start talking from where we left off. Love you, call when you feel up to it.

I worked with Curt for several years at university hospital, he was a joy to work with and probably one of my favorite pharmacists. I just learned of his passing last night and am very sad about this news. Continued prayers for the Arant family, Curt was a great man.

Nicki, when we moved to Augusta seven years ago, you and Curt befriended Ron and me and made us feel so at home. We became good friends who enjoyed spending time together. You and Curt have been an example to us, as I know you have been to many others. We appreciated Curt’s humble spirit, his willingness to teach our Bible Fellowship class, and his readiness to serve in his church wherever there was a need. As it says in Matthew 25, Curt was “a good and faithful servant.” We grieve for Curt, but thank God for his life and witness; we know we will see him again in heaven. We are praying for God’s comfort, peace, and love to fill you and your family during this difficult time. We love you, Marie and Ron Lehman

Dear Nicki, Though we had very little contact with your family, we will never forget the wonderful Ionosphere Tours trip out west many years ago. We enjoyed getting to know several people on that trip, but you and Curt stand out in my mind, maybe because my husband, Bill was a pharmacist for many years too. Also, Martha is my piano teacher and special friend, and the one who told me about your piano for sale that I bought and am enjoying. Please accept my (our) condolences.

Nicki, Denise, and Rhonda...a very beautiful service today sharing your very special husband and father. I'm so sorry Mike and I did not get the opportunity to know him more...even though, Nicki, you and I were trying to plan a dinner date. Heaven will become more sweeter and you will long to join him there. I can only say that JESUS is enough..HE will fill the void that is left behind. God will collect all the tears that will follow. PS 56:8 tells us He keeps track of all our sorrows. He collects all our tears in a bottle. and records each one in a book. Sending love. KATHY and MIKE ST CLAIR

Do not grieve for our dear brother Curt. He is a sinner saved by grace. On this Earth he received justification and sanctification he now has graduated on to glorification . "we shall be like Him because we shall see Him as He is! " Yes, we have lost a shinning light, so we grieve for our loss. Curt is a mentor and example to many. My prayers to all his family and friends who miss him deeply.

Curt was one of the dearest people I ever worked with! We shared countless weekend shifts together and, during our slow times, we had wonderful conversations about our faith, family, life, etc. I believe we supported one another and, while we were not related by blood, he was definitely part of my family. He walked his faith and it showed. I will always be thankful for his friendship! My prayers are with all you during this time of loss; may each of you feel the comfort that Jesus provides.

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend. Curt always had the most beautiful smile and such a genuine Christian spiritual countenance. He always talked about going to heaven, and what a joy it would be. I'm so glad he is experiencing that happiness now. We will forever miss you until...…..Our prayers are with Nikki and family in their grief. The God that gave Curt his hope will soothe their sorrow. Mack and I will surely miss Curt.

Bill, Krissy, Payton and Lindsay express our condolences to a man we never met but nevertheless, positively impacted our family in many ways, not the least of which is our relationship through marriage to his incredible Rhonda. We will forever be grateful for that and rest in knowing that we will eventually have the opportunity to meet this special man eternally. God bless the Arant family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my beloved cousin, Curtis. It was always a big event when our cousins from N.Augusta visited us in O'burg. We really had good times together! Curtis had a big influence on my career.. After graduating from Clemson and serving two years in the army I still did not know what I wanted to do with my life. Curt was in pharmacy school at USC. I visited with him and he convinced me that pharmacy would be a good profession for me. I never thanked him enough for his guidance. Lord willing I will thank him when we meet again.

Curt and Nicki were classmates through many years at North Augusta. And then at South Carolina for four more years. Someone had already said that he appeared happiest man in world. Yes that’s so true. He was a witness by his walk. Very saddened. So unexpected. Our love to you Nicki.

Curt was so dear to our family! He was a sweet servant, great fishing friend for Lizzie and such a blessing to us all. We will miss him so much. We are praying for your beautiful family. This quote by Charles Spurgeon made me think of Curt’s view of death, “Death is no punishment to the believer: it is the gate of endless joy.”
Michelle Sterling - August 2 at 4:26 PM

SUE GRIZZARD - August 2 at 2:21 PM
First time I really got to know Mr. Arant was when his blood sugar was low at church and I helped him desperately try to find a vending machine with a candy bar! We did. And since then we always spoke and grew closer in friendship. I'd even buy him a Snickers candy bar for Christmas, his birthday or when invited to his house for a meal. Occasionally we would reminisce and laugh about our little adventure we had together and the talk in the break room at Curtis. It's so amazing how much of the Lord's love Mr. Arant had shown me in such a short period of time of knowing each other. He will be missed...for now.
Hugo Chan - August 2 at 1:04 PM
I never saw Mr. Arant that he wasn't serving the Lord and accomplishing God's will for his life. What a testimony to have! Praying for the entire family. Love you!
Rhonda Minter - August 2 at 10:59 AM
Card games, Folley Beach trips, crabbing, laughing together, but most of all, common ground in loving and serving our Lord. Love your precious family- my Steven’s namesake. Rest well as you praise the Lord forever.

He was my FIRST SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER! My husband and I loved his class cause we could ask stupid questions and never be judged. He helped to lay a great solid foundation in our Christian life. He will be remembered fondly in our lives and I look forward to seeing him on the other side! Praying for his family.

Uncle Curt: I have such great memories of you at the beach and at Granny and Granddaddy's at Christmas time and on Sunday's. You believed in me and always pushed me to be my best. You never judged and was very humble with advise and always there to lend a helping hand. I love you and you will be greatly missed. But I rejoice in knowing that I will see you again one day. Thanks for always being there when I needed you.

Curt and Nikki were wonderful classmates and our friendship has extended many years after graduation.. Curt always had a smile and showed great love for his Lord and family. He was a true servant of our Lord and Savior. Know he is healed and in in the arms of Jesus. We never know the time or place when we will be called home. Please know for certain that your eternal home is in heaven. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and be your Savior now. This is what Curt would want you to know. Love to Nikki and this wonderful family.

What a special friend Curt has been to Spike and me all these years. He always had a great comeback to Spike's jokes and Spike picking on him. He was a fun loving, God loving man of God, who loved his family and Curtis Baptist. We will miss our "Twix" man..
