Mr. William O Pittman Jr.

May 14, 1956 - September 4, 2019

Bill passed away peacefully on September 4 2019 in Blythe, GA with his wife and Ms Tommie Odum by his side.

Memorial service will be held at 3pm on  Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Miracle Baptist Church with Paster John Bartlett officiating.

He was the son of the late William O. Pittman Sr. and Shelby Branham Pittman. Also predeceased by his sister Melissa A. Pittman.

He started out as a bag boy and advanced to management at bi-lo with 37 years of dedicated service.

He also worked at John Deere and Bridgestone.

He wanted his service to be a celebration of his life. I am sure he would be honored if we all wear Gamecock colors.

I can hear him saying GO COCKS!

Those he left to cherrish his memories are his wife Dianne Martin Pittman; a daughter, Jenny Perkins-Haney (Jason); one son, Thomas Perkins (Deana); and grandson, Gaven Thomas Perkins, all of Blythe, GA; brothers, Carleton A. (Tony) Pittman Sr (Sue) of Lugoff, SC, Micheal J. Pittman Sr of Columbia, SC, David M. Pittman (Linda) of Lugoff SC, Carleton A. (Tony) Pittman Jr (Tracy) of Lugoff, SC, Dalton J. Pittman of Lugoff SC; and a sister Sue A Pittman Donahue of E!gin SC; also 2 biological daughters, Crystal Pittman Nazzrie (Chris), granddaughter Deven; Jessica Pittman Setzer (Derek Laymon) and grandson Benjamin Laymon.

Bill will also be remembered for his quick sense of humor. He always had a joke to tell. He loved putting models together and actually won a 1st place ribbon at the Georgia-Carolina state fair for it. He entered a contest in a magazine to write a story. The next magazine came out and his story was published. He named it Stick ball. It was a short story about him and his brothers playing ball with that stick.

Gaven was his world , they had a very special bond.  He wanted us to make sure Gaven would remember him and we will.

I would like to thank  Dr Miriam Atkins and the Augusta Oncology staff for taking care of him.

Affinis Hospice was great.  Lee and Kitty  were awesome. Thank you!

And last but not least a huge thank you to our daughter Jenny who was with me every step of the the way.  I couldn't have done it without you.

I will be praying for the family of Bill (Pit Bull). I worked with Bill for many years at BI-LO and he was a wonderful person. He was the only person that I know that had the same birthday as my daughter May 14th. My thoughts are with the family.
