Wendell Laturis Harrell

December 13, 1958 - September 22, 2019

Sixty years ago, Wendell Laturis Harrell, was brought into this world by the almighty God born to Carl Meeks & Mae (O’Neal) Hawkins in Mounds, Illinois on December 13, 1958. The same God that brought him into this world knew that his stay on earth would come to an end on the evening of Sunday, September 22, 2019.

Wendell Harrell is a graduate of MacArthur High School, Decatur, Illinois. After the completion of high school he joined the United States Navy and served until he was honorably discharged. He spent many years driving 18 wheelers until his health started to fail him.

He was married to Annie (Bond) Harrell for 37 years, to that until 3 sons were born, Wendell Harrell, Jr., Johnathan Harrell, and Cacone Harrell. Wendell also took on the responsibility of raising Christopher Bond as his son. Mr. Harrell also had a beautiful daughter, Camille Harrell.

Wendell loved to converse with people about any subject, however he was known for his knowledge of knowing everything.

Wendell Harrell leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife Annie (Bond) Harrell, his children Christopher Bond, Wendell Harrell, Jr., Jonathan Harrell of Augusta, Georgia, his daughter Camille Harrell of Decatur, Illinois; 11 grandchildren, Jonathan Harrell, Jr., JaNyia Harrell, Wendell Harrell III, Chontez Burctley, Paige Bond, Christopher Bond, Tyisha Bond, Kaylin Brown, Kaja Armor, Isaiah Bond; siblings Catherine Harrell of Saxton, MO, Lyn (Alvin) Reed of Waukegan, IL, Kay (Max) Russell of Reidland, KY, Carletos Meeks of Leesburg, FL, and Don (Eileen) Meeks of Milwaukee, WI; and Special Friends Tony Reese and Mosses Moore.

He was preceded in death by her parents, 2 bothers Stanley O’Neal and Jerry Meeks and son Cacone Harrell.

Annie we’re so sorry for your loss. Wendall was always pleasant and positive. He knew that having a relationship with God gave him comfort and hope. We will miss him.
