Olin "June" Dewitt Huggins
October 13, 1937 - January 23, 2020
Olin “June” Dewitt Huggins, who was the youngest of 14 children, was born on October 13, 1937 in the county of Darlington, South Carolina to the late James and Oletha Rodgers Huggins. He departed this life on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his residence in Evans, Georgia surrounded by his family and friends.
“June” attended public school in South Carolina and later graduated from Butler High School. After graduation, he moved to New York City with his sister, Letha Johnson, where he held various jobs and later retired from The New York City Bureau of Pest Control. After retirement, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he married Loretta Saunders. In Florida, he made many friends while fishing and entertaining people at the local corner store. Olin was known for his special way of talking or being the neighborhood’s “philosopher”. He can be remembered best by a phrase, “ J.C., my Father, your Daddy,” when referring to Jesus Christ.
Preceding in death, his wife, Loretta Huggins, siblings: Vivian Jacobs, William “Sea” Huggins, Sonny Huggins, Fletcher Huggins, Otto Huggins, Rosco Huggins, and Ruby Mae Young with five siblings who passed as infants.
Olin leaves to cherish his memories; one sister, Letha Johnson, children: Cheryl Moment, Dwight (Filiz) Huggins, Kibra (Alan) Williams, Denise Huggins, and Jason Huggins. Eleven grandchildren: Damon Moment, Arron Moment, Chris (Heather) Huggins, Ashley (Harrison) Taylor, Cennet Huggins, Raefiel McIntosh, Victor (Mariel) McIntosh, Barron McIntosh, Curtis Sey, Darius Sey, Autumn Huggins, Winter Huggins, ten great-grandchildren, special friends: Melvin Wright, Lynette McIntosh, Rodney McIntosh, and Lou Irons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
