Evelyn Diana Broadnax passed away at Doctor’s Hospital on January 28, 2021. She was a beautiful baby girl who made her glamorous debut on April 11, 1964 and would become the second child of four born to David and Irene Johnson. Since her youth, Evelyn earned a reputation for being a loyal and giving friend who used her strong voice to champion important causes for herself and others. She excelled at giving practical solutions and Bible-based advice. She was mostly raised in Philadelphia, Pa but spent her formidable years in the South where she perfected her warm hospitable spirit. Educated in the public school system, she graduated Thomas Edison High School in 1982. Her desire to always improve encouraged her to achieve a bachelor's in public administration followed by a master's in counseling. She was always a go-getter.She got her first job at the age fifteen (15) and held steady employment until she retired from the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Augusta YDC. She was proud of her extended career working with adult men and women, as well as youth offenders in the criminal justice system. She viewed it as an opportunity to spread the love of Christ to those who were incarcerated. Those who knew Evelyn knew she especially took pride in being a Christian mother and wife. She dedicated her life to God in her early 20’s and strove to be a living light every day. She raised her children in the admonishment of the Lord and diligently prepared them to be living examples of the love of God in action. She moved to Southern Georgia in 1997 because she wanted to make a better life for her children. She joined Faith Outreach Church and continued to grow spiritually. She diligently studied the word of God and became a minister. She delighted in the summer youth programs and enjoyed being an active member in various church groups.Evelyn ecstatically married the love of her life, Lanod Broadnax on December 30, 2005. They were loving and happy couple seeking God and managing life together. Their Christ-filled love for each other was apparent for anyone to see because you rarely saw one without the other nearby.Evelyn got pleasure in cooking, entertaining loved ones, doing home improvements and getting ideas from HGTV.
