Ian Ross Monroe passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2021 at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. He was 46. Ian was born July 2, 1974, in Augusta, GA. He was a devoted husband and father, and a true American patriot while serving in the United States Army.
Ian is survived by his beloved Heather Ehrenstein Monroe, his daughter Alexys Victoria Monroe, and stepdaughter Savanna Marie Penn. He is also survived by his parents Leila Hollingsworth Monroe and Gary P Monroe; sister Heather M. Rinehart; brother Jason Monroe; sister-in-law Vilma Monroe; nieces Julia Monroe, Mariah Monroe, Sarah Rinehart, and children; Jacob Rinehart; his Aunt and Uncle Dawn; Phillip Wetherington and children; his Aunt and Uncle Peggy; David Whittle and children; and Aunt Happy and Uncle Nick Krause, and children.
Ian is preceded in death by grandparents Vera McLane, Mac McLane, Earl Hollingsworth, and Harriet Hollingsworth.
Ian moved to North Augusta, SC, with his wife who works at VA in Augusta, GA. Although he was only on Earth for a short time, he is remembered every day by his friends and family. Ian had a sense of humor that involved picking on everyone. He enjoyed hunting with his uncle David and cousin Jonathan Whittle. He was immensely proud of getting his first deer last season October 2020.
Ian loved his daughter Alexys “Lexi” Monroe and stepdaughter Savanna Penn immensely. He was extremely proud of Alexys graduating high school this year and was really looking forward to going to her graduation in Braidwood, IL. Ian loved the beach, being outdoors, and playing canasta with his parents. Ian loved spending time with his 2 cats and 2 dogs as well.
There will be a celebration of life in Waldorf, MD. Time and date will be decided and provided on Facebook. The family is asking for thoughts and prayers as they grieve.
